Southeastern Pennsylvania Hammertoe Treatment
Advanced Services in Newtown, Warminster & Surrounding Areas
When it comes to treating hammertoes, surgical intervention is most commonly needed if the hammertoe is starting to become severely painful or an open sore develops. Generally, our team can simultaneously treat other foot deformities along with treatment for hammertoes. A hammertoe is when one or both joints in the toes begin to abnormally bend and put a strain on your feet when wearing shoes. This can lead to multiple problems and further complicate any pre-existing conditions you may have with your feet already.
Call (215) 392-4009 or contact us online to schedule your treatment for hammertoes today.
Common Causes of Hammertoes
Typically, the most common cause of hammertoe is due to imbalance in your muscles or tendons which leads to the bending of the tail and changes in your foot structure that can worsen over time. Hammertoes may also be further aggravated if you wear improper shoes and cramp your feet into an unnatural position.
A few common symptoms of hammertoes include:
- Corns and calluses
- Redness, swelling when wearing shoes
- Irritation or pain on affected toes
- Open sores start to form
- Burning sensation
